Our Impact

YWCA Southeast Wisconsin is part of YWCA USA – a network of one of the nation’s oldest and most formidable organizations standing up for the dignity of women and others who are often deliberately disadvantaged.

We have a challenging mission – one that addresses the two most deeply embedded and damaging drivers of inequality and oppression historically and in today’s world: racism and patriarchy.

We determine the success of our work by the impact we have on those who are most disadvantaged and how much closer it takes us to a truly equal world; this is really the only true benchmark of success that matters and one which we are focused on.

Eliminating Racism

As one of the most segregated states in the country, racism pervades every aspect of life. Our mission today remains even more relevant as the impacts of racial inequalities and systemic oppression continue to disadvantage and harm many members of our community, often by design.

Empowering Women

YWCA Southeast Wisconsin (SEW) is committed to creating a more just, fair and equal world for all genders, with the acknowledgment that, historically, women have been most excluded, disadvantaged and discriminated against and continue to feel the impacts of this, especially in the workplace.

Help Us Make An Impact

Gifts of Stock, Bonds and Other Assets

Gifts of appreciated stocks, mutual fund shares and similar assets can have a big impact on the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin’s mission and potentially provide significant tax benefits to the donor.  To assure a smooth transfer, timely acknowledgment and tax-deduction documentation, before making such a gift, please seek the input of your tax advisor and consult these instructions below or contact Ginny Finn, President & CEO at [email protected].

Instructions to gift appreciated stock, or mutual funds or other similar assets

  • Consult with your tax or financial advisor to confirm you have held your asset at least one-year and a day as a first step
  • Confirm your fiduciary will notify us that YOU are making the gift – often this is not the case
  • Provide time for year-end transfers – to assure your gift is received in the tax year you intend, it is best to initiate December transfers prior to December 25th.
Sponsors & Partnerships

On behalf of all we serve, YWCA Southeast Wisconsin salutes our sponsors and partners. We work with corporations, foundations, organizations and government institutions committed to shared values to help us move our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women forward.  We welcome new sponsors and partners and look forward to finding ways to work together to empower women, stand up to racial injustice, and build a more just and inclusive community for all families.

Our incredible sponsors and partners provide critical financial support and collaborative expertise for programs and initiatives — from our signature events to community gatherings, from economic empowerment services to racial justice and gender equity classes.

Workplace Giving

YWCA Southeast Wisconsin is a proud member agency of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. Our agency number is 274647.

Planned Giving

YWCA Southeast Wisconsin can effectively work with your professional advisor to assure that advance financial planning includes support for the YWCA SEW’s vital mission.  Whether making a planned gift during lifetime or as part of executing an estate, advance consultation with the YWCA SEW is the best way to assure donor intent is fulfilled without confusion or delay.

Beneficiary designations of life insurance, bank accounts, 401(k) or other retirement vehicles, or any asset (e.g., pension) that permits a beneficiary designation can be dedicated to YWCA SEW’s mission.  It is vitally important to discuss such designations thoroughly with your financial advisor prior to making them.

Wills and Trusts – It is easy to include the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin in your will by making a bequest to support its mission.  Trusts, both charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts, are often part of the will preparation process.  Both kinds of trusts can make it possible to donate assets to YWCA SEW, while still enjoying some benefit from the asset. It is extremely important that a donor discuss these matters with personal financial and legal counsel, prior to executing any documents.
